Two oval-cut natural amethysts sit at the top of these earrings. Together, they weigh 5.06 carats. A four-prong setting in 18K yellow gold holds each stone firmly. The prongs sit close to the stone’s edge. This design keeps as much of the amethyst visible as possible. As a result, light travels through the violet facets from nearly every angle. The oval cut also elongates the line of the earring. Because of this, the piece flatters the earlobe without adding bulk.
Below each amethyst, a round freshwater pearl hangs from a small gold link. This link lets the pearl move gently with the wearer. Consequently, the earrings catch light differently throughout the day. The pearl’s soft luster contrasts with the amethyst’s sharp facets. Meanwhile, the warm tone of the 18K yellow gold ties both textures together. Freshwater pearls also vary slightly in shape and shine. Because of this, no two pairs look exactly alike, even within the same design.
At 4.50 grams total, the earrings feel light on the ear. Therefore, they suit long days and long evenings equally well. The two-tier structure gives them enough presence for formal occasions. Yet the design stays simple enough for daily wear. In fact, many clients wear this style from morning meetings straight through to dinner. The gold setting resists tarnish with normal care. Additionally, the prong construction keeps the amethysts secure during regular movement.
Every step of this piece happens in our Cairo workshop. Nothing is cast or set elsewhere. Our team first matches the amethysts for even color and clarity. Next, they hand-build the prong setting around each stone’s exact proportions. The pearls are then matched for size and luster before final assembly. Because we make the piece ourselves, we can also service it ourselves. For example, we can replace a pearl or tighten a prong years later. We simply work from the original specifications.
