Anis Al-Zoghbi is an Egyptian visual artist whose career extends across painting, graphic design, illustration, and Arabic calligraphy. Born in 1952 in Gharbia, Egypt, he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo in 1976, ranking first in his class. In 1989, he further expanded his artistic practice by earning a Diploma in Arabic Calligraphy in Kuwait, deepening the relationship between form, language, and visual expression within his work.
A Career Between Egypt and Kuwait
Across several decades, Al-Zoghbi developed a rich artistic journey between Egypt and Kuwait, working as a painter, illustrator, designer, art director, and educator. His professional experience spans editorial illustration, cultural publishing, visual communication, and art education, giving his paintings both structural precision and emotional resonance. This diverse background shaped a visual identity that balances discipline with sensitivity, and tradition with contemporary artistic language.
Exhibitions and Artistic Recognition
His works have been presented in numerous solo and collective exhibitions in Egypt and abroad. Among his most notable milestones was his solo exhibition The Geometric Rhythm and the Devotions of the Letter at the Salah Taher Gallery within the Cairo Opera House in 2019. He has also participated in exhibitions held at the Palace of Arts, the Museum of Modern Art in Cairo, Atelier Cairo, Ostraka Gallery, and international forums including the Sharjah International Forum for Arabic Calligraphy in the United Arab Emirates.
Artistic Style and Visual Language
Al-Zoghbi’s artistic language is distinguished by stylized human figures, refined geometry, lyrical color palettes, and a quiet yet powerful sense of presence. Influenced by both Arab and Western artistic traditions, he developed a personal style that transforms memory, tenderness, and cultural identity into poetic compositions filled with balance and grace. His works are part of private and institutional collections in Egypt and Kuwait, including the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and several prominent cultural institutions in Kuwait.
