House of Begermi

The Man Who Set His Life in Gold

Some people chase success. Others craft it - with patience, courage, and an instinct for beauty.

Sharif Begermi belongs to the second kind.

He left Egypt as a teenager, drawn to the promise and pace of America. There, in the adrenaline-fueled world of futures and options, he learned discipline, risk, and timing, lessons that would later serve him in a very different arena. But it was a single, unexpected favor that changed everything.

A family friend asked for help selling diamonds in the States. Sharif agreed, curious,  and found himself captivated. What began as a favor quickly became a passion. The geometry of a cut, the play of light, the eternity locked in a stone, all of it spoke to him.

Soon, he was in Antwerp, Belgium, the heart of the world’s diamond trade. There he studied at HRD Antwerp, mastering the art and science of gemology. He met mentors who became friends, and peers who became lifelong partners. They taught him what no textbook could, that jewelry, at its highest level, isn’t about wealth, but emotion. It’s a reflection of human history, love, and legacy.

Armed with that wisdom, Sharif returned to San Francisco and founded his own wholesale diamond company. The venture thrived, but Egypt was never far from his thoughts. On one visit home, standing in the Cairo sun, he heard an inner voice whisper:

"Bring it back. Bring what you've learned here."

That moment marked the birth of Antwerpen Fine Jewelry, and later, the SBegermi brand, now synonymous with sophistication and integrity. From his first downtown Cairo office to his elegant Maadi showroom, Sharif built not just a business, but a culture, one that honors craftsmanship over noise, and soul over showmanship.

His model was unconventional from the start: no street-level retail, no mass glitter. Only refined, appointment-only salons where each creation is experienced with focus and

Seven years ago, Sharif expanded into a larger Maadi location, transforming it into both a private jewelry house and a gallery space where art and jewelry coexist. His collaborations with painters and sculptors reflect his belief that beauty, in any form,  belongs to those who recognize it.

Today, Sharif’s vision extends beyond the showroom. Through lectures at Egypt’s leading universities and his apprenticeship initiative, he mentors young creatives who dream of blending intellect with artistry. His message is clear: luxury is not excess; it’s excellence.

Now fully based in Egypt, he looks back without nostalgia or regret, only gratitude.

"I've lived a blessed life,"
"And if my last check bounces, that means I've spent it well."

In a world that chases speed and trends, Sharif Begermi stands apart – timeless, like the stones he shapes his life around.
